I’m Chris!
I have a theory: most of us don’t need another thing to do. We just need something we actually want to do.
I’ve spent a good chunk of my life writing about gardens, animals, growing things, and life shaking dirt out of my bra. But sewing and making things have always been another part of my story. I just had to wait for the right season to give them a little more room.
That’s where Hold My Coffee comes in. I created this little corner of the internet for people who like to make things, but don’t necessarily have endless hours to do it.
Let’s Make Something
Around here, you’ll find sewing projects, simple crafts, sustainable ideas, nature-inspired makes, and plenty of encouragement to actually pull out the supplies you’ve been saving for “someday.”
Someday is a lousy sewing plan.
I believe making things should be fun, not another item on the to-do list. You don’t need to be an expert, have a perfectly organized sewing room, or follow every rule in the book. You just need a little time, a little curiosity, and the willingness to give it a go.

Small Farm Life
We live on our small family farm, Laughing Crow & Company, tucked into the Northern California foothills. It’s home to a colorful herd of Angora goats, plus chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, gardens, fruit trees, and the occasional farm adventure that definitely wasn’t on my calendar.
When I’m not at my sewing machine, there’s a pretty good chance I’m outside with soil under my nails, mohair on my clothes, or wondering why I planted that many vegetables.
A Few Books Along the Way
Before Hold My Coffee became my creative home, I spent years writing about gardening, homesteading, livestock, and the natural world. I’ve written nine books and am working on number ten, a sewing book scheduled for release in Fall 2027.
Writing has taken me down some wonderfully unexpected paths over the years, and I’m not quite done exploring yet. I have a feeling there are still plenty of stories to tell, things to make, and adventures ahead.
So grab your favorite drink (mine will be caffeinated), pull up a chair, and stay awhile. There’s always something to make around here.
