I’m Chris!
Around here, we’re inspired by the joy of making something from scratch.
Most people know me as a longtime garden writer, sharing the magic of plants, animals, and life with dirt under my nails. But sewing and creating — my other passion — was just biding its time, patiently waiting for its season.

I created Hold My Coffee {I gotta make this} to finally give that part of me room to shine. It’s a cozy little corner of the internet where sewing, simple crafting, and farm life all crash the same party — and everyone’s invited.
Perfection? It’s politely shown the door.
Whether you’re here for a creative reset, a weekend project, or just some joyful inspiration, I’m so glad you found your way here.
Because at the end of the day, the joy really is in the making!
Let’s Make Things Together
From stitching weekend-friendly projects to making things inspired by the natural world around us, my goal is to make creativity:
- Accessible
- Joyful
- And totally doable—no matter how new you are at it, or how full your calendar is.
Our Subscription Boxes
As a lifelong maker and former garden writer turned sewing enabler, I know what it feels like to crave creativity but not know where to start. That’s why I created the ‘Makers Gotta Make’ Box—a cozy, no-pressure invitation to come back to the craft you love, even if it’s been a while.
Each box is a creative comeback in a package. With weekend-friendly projects, vintage-inspired fabrics, and a warm “you’ve got this” energy, we help sewists (and wannabe sewists) find their groove again—without perfection, overwhelm, or a pile of unfinished projects.
This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about pouring a cup of something warm, pressing play on your creativity, and feeling the joy of making again.

Small Farm Life
We live on our small family farm, Laughing Crow & Company, nestled in the Northern California foothills. It’s also home to a colorful herd of Angora goats (plus a motley crew of others). When I’m not knee-deep in fabric, I’m neck-deep in goat mischief, rogue chickens, and garden beds that don’t know who’s boss.
